Get Your Dave On

The saying goes "you are what you eat".  That being said, I'm nuts (big shock).  I started incorporating a lot of nuts and seeds into my diet while I was vegetarian and the habit stuck. Walnuts and cashews are my nuts of choice for cooking, but for snacking, I'm all about almonds... usually raw or Tamari.

When Left Coast Naturals contacted me to see if I would like to try out their new Dave & Friends line of artisan, oven roasted and naturally glazed almonds I was all "yes please!"  Well, they sent me a whole pack of each of the varieties; Dave, Klaus, Phan and Hiro.  Squee!

Decisions are hard for me and I opened Hiro first, thinking that he would be my least favourite.  I was wrong.  I'm crushing hard on Hiro... with a wee hint of Tamari or soy and black and white sesame seeds he is absolutely delicious!  Hiro does have Klaus hot on his heels though... a crunchy not too salty or overly flavoured Beer Nut.  Dave, the leader of this gang of nutjobs, is dubbed the 'maple' one... but I find his hint of cinnamon a bit too much and I sadly missed the real maple flavour I was hoping he'd have.  Phan doesn't stand a chance with me... even though some family and friends show interest in him.  His naturally flavoured glaze with real Thai chilis and kaffir lime leaves just came off as Pine-Sol-ish to me, sorry Phan, I'm sure you are a nice guy.

Santa has already been advised that Hiro & Klaus must find their way into my stocking this year. I'm a sucker for a good marketing campaign and Dave & Friends have one of those for sure and Left Coast Naturals is a stand-up company, keeping sustainability and giving back high on their list of priorities.

Disclosure:  I received complimentary product to sample/review, however all opinions on my blog are my own, and never for sale.

  2. Bah, I didn't get a chance to finish that before Oliver pushed enter... Anywho, where are these sold? I would love to try Hiro! I might bring home Klus too, I'm not a fan of the sweet stuff, so only these two can hang out with me.

    1. From the looks of it from the store locator Planet Organic on Quinpool might be our best bet. Next time you are in Humani-t you should get them on board if they aren't.
