Right now though, I am thankful to EVERYONE who voted for my Shucking Great Brunch during the Sobeys Brunch Smackdown. Extra rounds were fought and in the end it had to go to the judges for a decision...
It's a DRAW!
Andrea's (@missfish) It's All About The Bacon Brunch and my East Coast Style Shucking Great Brunch went the distance. One thing is clear... our readers LOVE bacon, and it shows!
Now that the championship is over and we are all icing and soaking our weary muscles (mmm.... mussels), please go and share some love to ALL of the contenders, there are six really great brunch ideas there for the making.
Since it's a draw, we are splitting our winnings... so not only do I have a $60 Sobeys Gift Card for two of my favourite causes, Feed NS and Spay Day HRM, but also ten $25 Sobeys Gift Cards to giveaway to some of you.
In the spirit of giving thanks, here's what I'm going to do...
To enter, leave a comment letting me know who you would donate your extra $25 Sobeys Gift Card to and why. Be sure to leave a way for me to contact you should you win :) I will select five winners on October 28th, 2012 using Random.org.
Congrats to winners, comment #s 23, 8, 27, 21 and 4! I'll be in touch :)
Thank you all again so much!
Disclosure: I am a member of the Sobeys Food Lovers program and I receive special perks as part of my affiliation. The opinions in this post, as always, are my own.
I would donate to the Hope Mission because they make a huge difference in the lives of the homeless of my city and they can stretch a dollar like you wouldn't believe!
ReplyDeleteI would donate the extra too our cities food bank because they can always use anything we can spare.
ReplyDeleteI would love to donate a $25 gift card to the breakfast program at my school. So many kids come to school hungry every morning and providing them with fresh fruit and other healthy options makes such a significant difference to their day and their ability to learn :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats, Heather!
What a great thing you did! I actually LOVED your idea best for the brunch (bacon wrapped scallops, come on!), and I am glad that you get to donate to two great charities. I myself would donate my half to Mischief's Memory Cat Rescue, $25 will buy a good amount of cat food for the multiple fosters they have.
ReplyDeleteI would donate my extra $25 to Kids of Integrity. This is a once a month after school program New Life Baptist Church in Prospect runs. It's a place for kids to do crafts, have a healthy snack and have fun. They ask church members to donate food for the after school snack. -Julia Fletcher (Timberlea, N.S)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea Heather :) I would donate a gift card to the BLT school's Breakfast club, they provide a healthy breakfast for children at BLT, and sadly I know there are far to many kids there that could use a good meal. It is all done by donations so $25 would really help make sure they can get items that they need.
ReplyDeleteHey Heather..Congrats on the big win!! You're amazing. If I win I would donate my card to the food bank.
ReplyDeleteDana Macneil
Give them both to feed Nova Scotia :) SCONCE!
ReplyDeleteCongrats, Heather! Can't wait to try some of your brunch ideas. I'd give the extra card to Soul's Harbour Rescue Mission in north Halifax. They have a great program that seeks to help the people nobody else seems to want to help. They serve addicts, and homeless, and troubled folks alike, and generally the less fortunate. They serve by providing meals, clothing, financial aid when possible, and a message of hope to the disenfranchised.

I would donate one to our local food bank. We live in a small town that almost all of the work is seasonal. It is pretty much layoff time, and I know too many people personally who need the food bank to be able to feed their families. Makes for a long and hard winter and is too close to home.

Great Idea Heather!!!! My family and i have decieded this year that we all have so much, so instead of picking names and spending 50 dollars on each other we are going to sponsor a family that has nothing.. So in turn i will put that $25 in there for them :)
ReplyDeleteLondon Food Bank. They would need it most.

I'd donate the gift card to the food bank at my church. It's been tough for a lot of people lately, so there's been an increase in food bank use. The food bank stores are getting low.
