We were in the midst of playing dress-up with Cousin Alex last Monday when we heard a knock at the door. The kids are always excited to see what's inside the boxes that arrive at Mommy's (or Aunt Heather's) door. They were really excited when I opened the box and discovered chocolate!
Velata is a new company from the Scentsy Family, and Velata fondue warmers use a 25-watt light bulb to melt your choice of Velata Belgian chocolate in a silicone dish that prevents heat from escaping, keeping the melted chocolate at the perfect temperature and consistency without stirring.
While you can heat the Velata chocolate directly in the warmer, the packages are specially designed to be heated in the microwave and squeezed into the warmer... making it a perfect last-minute dessert, or Princess Fondue Party!
While the Velata White Chocolate was in the microwave (it was in a total of one minute, 15 seconds), I washed out the warmer's top silicone dish (which is also dishwasher safe). The chocolate melted evenly within the package, was easy to squeeze out and I found that there was little waste doing it this way.
One bag of Velata chocolate is enough to fill the warmer's deep dish. I then quickly flew through the kitchen gathering anything dippable for the Princesses. I found bananas, apples, blueberries and some Pretzel Crisps. I like how the warmer has a dimmer switch, allowing you to lower the temperature as the chocolate level goes down. Never was the chocolate or the warmer too hot to be around the kids.
Once the dipping started, it didn't stop! I do have a confession though, I let the Princesses enjoy the white chocolate thinking it wouldn't be a favourite of mine, but the Velata White Chocolate is absolutely delicious! Velata describes it as 'a confection of billowy buttercream infused with delicate notes of vanilla', and that about sums it up. Gorgeous! I also received a bag of the Velata Dark Chocolate to try and I put it aside just for hubby and I... it was sooooooo smooth and rich. This really is high quality chocolate! Velata also offers Milk and Caramel Milk Chocolate. The warmers themselves currently come in three different styles and a variety of popular colours. Each warmer also comes with 4 coordinating Velata fondue forks.
The instructions say that any remaining chocolate can be covered and refrigerated, and then simply reheated right in the silicone dish in the microwave. We had no leftovers, so I can't comment on that (but is a pretty good recommendation on it's own). I think these warmers are a great way to get your fondue on and the set up and clean up are both a snap. We can't wait to have some more 'FUNdue' parties in the near future, what wouldn't taste better dipped in warm Belgian chocolate?
Velata products are sold through a network of Independent Sales Consultants in Canada, the US, Puerto Rico and Guam. For more information visit www.velata.net.
Disclaimer: I received a complimentary Velata warmer and two Velata Belgian chocolate packs to review. Opinions, as always are all mine.
